Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 will be officially released on July 29. Window 10 will come with two internet browsers – Internet Explorer (IE) 11 and Edge. Edge was originally named as Spartan and will replace IE as the default browser on Windows 10 PCs.

Many customers have inquired how Dynamic Web TWAIN, the TWAIN scanning SDK for web applications, will work with the browsers on Windows 10. The good news is that since v11.1 Dynamic Web TWAIN HTML5 Edition has fully supported IE11 and Edge on Windows 10. Online document scanning in IE 11 on Windows 10

It’s very simple to use Dynamic Web TWAIN for scanning images in IE 11 on Windows 10 – just install the Dynamic Web TWAIN HTML5 SDK by following the wizard and then you can use the scanning component. web twain scanning in IE 11 on Windows 10

As for Edge, Let’s try the following steps:

  1. Launch the online demo of Dynamic Web TWAIN in Edge.
  2. You will get a “Dynamic Web TWAIN in not installed” alert on the scanning page. Click the Download button to download and install the Dynamic Web TWAIN HTML5 Scanning library.Download and Install Web TWAIN HTML5 scanning SDK
  3. After installation of Dynamic Web TWAIN, you might find it still can’t scan. The cause is that Dynamic Web TWAIN HTML5 JavaScript library needs to talk to the local scanning service but Edge doesn’t allow it by default. To enable the access to the local scanning service of Dynamic Web TWAIN, you will need to add an exception by running CheckNetIsolation.exe in the console.Open the console as administrator and run the following command:
    CheckNetIsolation LoopbackExempt -a -n=Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe
    Run CheckNetIsolation
